V8 HOTSTOX V8 Hotstox British Champion Kevin Stuchbury Stoke September 2012 This year, Stoke Speedway Stadium was the venue for the V8 Hot stox British Championship. The format was two qualifiers and a final. After the preliminary races, both won by Kevin Stuchbury, there was a handful of drivers still in with a chance of the coveted black and white chequered roof for 2013. Seventeen cars took the green flag in the final with #82 Keith Murphy leading them away, Stuchbury was last man along side Lomax, both knowing it would be an uphill climb to score enough points to take the title. Current gold top champion Bracher, Wainman, Wainwright and Summers were all pushing from the start with Gold-Top Bracher sending young Jolly fence-ways early on. It was a nail biting first few laps with cars being sidelined on every bend. Lomax had a dig at Miss Wainman but ended up in the fence along side her. By the time the lap boards came out it was defending champion Smithy leading everyone home, Cottrill was chasing hard, but guess who was racing home in third? It was that man #131 Stuchbury and with it the Title nicely tucked up in his pocket. That’s how they finished the Grand final. With all the points toted up it was Stuchbury confirmed as the new champion, Cottrill was second and the outgoing champ Smithy in third. It was a well deserved win on a very tough racing surface.
