FWJ
Celebrates 25 Years of BriSCA F1 Sto
Startrax promoter Steve Rees was a happy chap this year as his
venue was chosen to hold the 25th Anniversary meeting celebrating
FWJs 25 years racing BriSCA F1s.
The turn out of drivers was fantastic and the fans loved it. There
were T-shirts of every colour denoting the 25 years Frankie
Wainman Jnr. has been racing these monster V8 race cars.
It was the 10th of October 1987 when Frank, fresh out of ministox
racing, raced for the first time in a
self-built F1 stock car. It was
at Long Eaton Raceway
and he was just 16 years
old.
It wasn’t
long
before his
first win (a
week) which was at
Crewe Stadium and
within a month, he
had won his first
final at
Northampton.
At the start of 1988
Frank has held star
grade status and has never been down graded. He’s gone on to win
Championship after Championship
and has taken the Gold twice.
By 2010 Frankie became the
second driver ever to win 250
Feature Finals and his
success has not just been
in the UK. He won the
last Baarlo Long Track.
the Venray Gold Cup
back in 2006 and
he’s three times
New Zealand
240ci World
Champion.
As the son of
Frankie
Wainman
Snr., who
Inside Stock Car World
wish Frank another
25 years at the top.
