Ormskirk Motor Festival
I
t hardly seems a year since ISCW ran an
article on the 2012 Ormskirk MotorFest.
Ormskirk is an historic Market Town in
the heart of West Lancashire steeped in
history and character and there’s been a
market there since 1286. This usually quiet
town was the venue for the Annual Motoring
extravaganza which saw the centre turned
into a huge 300 car paddock for the day.
Vehicles of all shapes and sizes lined the
streets, the pedestrian areas and local
parks, in this event organised by Aintree
Circuit Club and West Lanc's Council.
The 2013 running of the festival was quite
simply incredible. Hundreds of cars of all
kinds, ranging from a Bubble Car 'Squadron'
to a multi- million pound Le Mans winning
Bentley. A great crowd and a welcome dose
of Summer sunshine were the perfect way to
top things off.
Following the fantastic response from the
visitors to Neil Holcroft's appearance, the
World of oval racing was this time
represented in force by a cosmopolitan
group of 10 Stock Cars. The BriSCA
''Diamond Jubilee Display'' (sponsored by
Bensons Oils UK), was set up to cover all
six decades of the sport. This was well
received by the general public and in
particularly the motor heads - who were out
in force. The Stocks were, by far, the top
attraction of the day and the groups were
lined up in the prime site of the entire event,
under Ormskirk's historic landmark Grade-II
listed Clock Tower built in 1876 and situated
in the heart of the town centre .
