washed on a Sunday. But, depending on
the damage, we’d spend two full nights
carrying out the routine maintenance and all
day Saturday. If we have some serious
repairs, the team will work every night to get
her on track.
JP … Tell us about your best moment racing
NZ Superstox?
WH … I have several highlights. Winning 1NZ
always brings me satisfaction and right up
there was winning the World 240s. I’ve also
managed to with win the GP & North Islands
and become 2NZ in the same season which was an amazing effort. I think winning
the NZ Teams was very satisfying, especially
dressed in Panther colours. We always
know the crowd wants us to lose so pulling
four off in a row, was an awesome
achievement.
JP … What does it feel like Wayne getting a
good hit from another driver on track?
WH … I actually enjoy being hit, I won’t lie, I’d
rather be dishing them out but this a contact
class and you either love it or hate it, when
someone niggles at your nerf bars or back
bumper it’s a good feeling knowing that
you’ll dish them up when the timings right.
JP … What type of engine is currently in your
stock-car?
WH … I’m currently running a Ford V8 and
have for 20 years. However, we do have an
RW4 coming on the drawing table and we
have yet to decide on the engine.
JP … Wayne do you prefer team racing to
individual racing?
WH … I love both as racing as an individual
you have to rely on only yourself and your
www.insidestockcarworld.co.uk
skills which makes all the
work in the workshop, along
with the R&D worthwhile if
you can win a Championship. I
love being a part of a team
and being a Wildcat & Panther
is a dream - as the adrenaline
is off the scale and I’m hoping to
line up in 2013/14 and what would
make this even more satisfying, if RW2
was in the same team.
JP … Thank you Wayne Hemi and best
of luck to you & team RedWaka.
WH … No problems, I hope your
readers enjoy the insights into our
team.
We asked Wayne after our
interview if he knew FWJ;
here is Wayne’s reply .. “I
know Frankie pretty well,
he's an amazing driver,
good man and I've had a
few battles with him in
the past, I think
respect for each
other has taken over
and we now enjoy
some good fast
side-by-side racing.
