BRINGING THE FUN BACK INTO RACING

The iconic period of the 60s gave
us the legendary Tom Jones,
Clint Eastwood and Batman.
Ever since, guys have dreamed
of either being a singer, crackshot gun slinger or a billionaire
owning their own Batmobile.
Which just goes to show that
some things really do stand the
test of time.
excitement spread, our extended
family joined in the fun with a
variety of members racing across
all classes. After years of
watching my relatives race, it was
only a matter of time before I was
old enough to get behind the
wheel and race myself.
But for the legacy from my
grandparents, I wouldn’t be
where I am today and I now
dedicate and race in their
memory, as sadly they never got
to see me race properly when
they were alive.
Over the years, I’ve indulged my
passion by travelling to watch
and photograph banger meetings
for my website. But as a former
driver, it gave me the itch to race
once again.
I knew I wanted to race on the big
tracks at a National level but I
knew the budget was always
going to be a problem.
However, the great thing about
living in the 21st Century is our
technology - and thanks to Youtube - I stumbled across the
Stoxkarts formula which I’d seen
years earlier at Warton. (and to
I'm known to most people as
Dippy Danny which dates back to
my youth - not from the 60s
though! It’s stayed with me
since my school mates called me
Dippy Danny for being the class
clown. So now you all know - you
can forget the rumours!
There are loads of examples of
great stuff from the 60s and my
grandparents probably saw the
first stock car race at Warton
when it opened its doors 40 years
ago, at a time when the sport was
still in its infancy.
Over time, they took their kids to
enjoy the sport and as the
