Southern Association for College Student Affairs
(SACSA) Recognition.
Vice President Ellen Neufeldt won the Melvene Draheim Hardee Award, Associate Vice
President Johnny Young was the Bobby E. Leach Award winner, and Associate Vice President
Jane Dané was selected for the Outstanding Enrollment Management Professional
Award by the Enrollment Management Knowledge Community of NASPA: Student Affairs
Administrators in Higher Education.
Neufeldt was recognized for her leadership in establishing model programs, developing professional staff and
influencing the direction of the profession. She also has been a major organization contributor to both SACSA
and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
The Leach Award recognizes a student affairs professional or graduate student who has contributed
significantly to the development of multicultural relations on a college or university campus.
The Outstanding Enrollment Management Professional Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field
of Enrollment Management; those who contribute to enrollment programs and initiatives on their campuses,
through research, and/or through NASPA or other professional associations.
Additionally, ODU’s Preston Reilly won the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Candidates for this honor
must be pursuing masters or doctoral work in a student affairs-related degree program with the intent
of pursuing a career in the field, have an active involvement and leadership roles in campus activities and
organizations, and hold a paraprofessional or intern-related position within a student affairs division.
