INSIDE OTWO / Nº 01
13 April 2020
We are privileged in this magazine to have seen this
belief confirmed time and time again. Reader’s
comments have always been encouraging and the
quality of our columns speak for themselves. The
incredibly small team that has put this magazine
together are a product of this collaboration between
the public, editorial team and columnists.
Covid-19 and the nightmare this has forced on us,
emphasises more than words can illustrate just how
much re-alignment we needed in our lives. The
simple values that were so sadly sometimes missing
or unnoticed in our normal lives, are the ones we are
now told will get us through this crisis; Looking after
each other, working together, connecting with others,
respect for each other’s efforts, looking after our
elders – all these things we now hear every day being
ploughed through our consciences, yet none of them
were previously highly prized values in our society.
No one now speaks of bank balances, or chain of
command, or market sectors, or individual rights, or
collective views, or career progression, or personal
success. Such notions rightly cannot be allowed to
hinder our collective action. We are all in a fight
against an invisible enemy and this unites us above race or colour and even collectives like religions and
nations.
This will pass, we will endure and we shall again be able to enjoy the freedom of movement we are all
missing so much by now.
“We are privileged
in this magazine
to have seen this
belief confirmed
time and time
again”.
One thing however is clear, the world will never be the same again. Once this is
over, a lot of people should be made to explain quite how we got here when the
danger was apparent and catalogued. Certainly our value sets have to change
so that what we are now expected to do exceptionally, becomes the new norm.
But that is for another day and certainly for other publications. What is
abundantly clear though, is that the world will never be the same again.
We have said before “A better world, a better society can only happen if each of
us commit. No government in the world can solve this.“(Environmental disaster)
We also promised you that OTWO would not fear failure in our endeavours.
The new world that we will walk into when this is over needs us to act this way. We simply cannot make
the same mistakes again, we must rip from the centre of all this anguish, the chance to do things right, to
value the important things in life and to enjoy our surroundings. To do this responsibly and in doing so to
protect us all.
NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME AGAIN
