Medsteps5 Challenge Back for Its 11th Year in Support of Cancer Relief
The Medsteps5 Challenge at HM Prison Windmill Hill continues to stand as a powerful example of community-driven fundraising in Gibraltar, with this year’ s event set to take place on Saturday 9 th May.
Now in its 11 th edition, the challenge, organised by prison officers Mark Cooper and John Pacheco, has become a key fixture in the local calendar, bringing together over 600 participants in support of Cancer Relief. Since its inception in 2015, the initiative has raised more than £ 175,000 for the Gibraltar Society for Cancer Relief, reflecting a long-standing and deeply rooted commitment to the cause.
This year has already seen strong engagement, with an impressive turnout at the recent registration day held at the Piazza. Participants include both returning challengers aiming to surpass previous achievements and first-time entrants inspired to take on the event.

While completing all five laps of the Medsteps route remains a notable accomplishment, organisers continue to emphasise accessibility and personal goals. Participants are encouraged to take part at their own pace, with one, two, or three laps all considered meaningful achievements. Medals are awarded to those completing three or five laps, offering added motivation for those looking to push further.
OTWO welcomes the continued success of initiatives like the Medsteps5 Challenge, which not only raise vital funds but also strengthen community spirit while encouraging active and purposeful participation.
