Tactics do change depending on where they are playing. Being in the Ryman league means Maidstone are playing teams that have better pitches compared to last year but as Maidstone is the only 3G pitch they find many other pitches in poor conditions “…the weather has a lot to do with it some are just covered in mud and you’ve just got to play in the right areas. We played Chipstead away last year and beat them quite comfortably and then played them at home and it was like playing Brazil! They were passing it about everywhere so our pitch makes a big difference” Jay admits. As for the rest of the season Jay is optimistic “if we can make the playoffs at the end of the season I’ll be happy it will be a great achievement. If we win, it will be a massive.”

.“ Players train every Tuesday and Thursday and the players who are in the academy train every day. “On Tuesdays we mainly play games as training with fitness work, but Thursday’s are a bit more fun where we get competitive with short sharp training and ‘old verses young’ as well as having two sports massage people at the ground in case they are needed” Jay adds.
