If you want to tour and explore more of Mackinac , bike to as many of the Island ’ s famous landmarks and rock formations as you can . Arch Rock , Sugar Loaf , Devil ’ s Kitchen , Fort Holmes , British Landing and Skull Cave are good rides and easy to find . But there are other remote destinations you can ride to if you feel more adventurous . Get an Island map and ask a local for details . Eagle Point Cave , Friendship Alter , Crack in the Island , Scott ’ s Cave , Sunset Rock , Tranquil Bluff Trail , Robinsons Folly are
secluded destinations and typically less frequented by others .
Island road and trail maps are available at most bike rental shops or the Tourism Bureau Information Booth located downtown across from the Star Line Ferry Dock # 1 . Remember , no matter how lost you think you might be , all trails eventually lead back to the shoreline or to town . It ’ s a small Island so you can ’ t get too lost . Some of the best memories of your visit to Mackinac will be the excellent time you ’ ll have riding bikes .
RULES ON E-BIKES : In simple words , no electric bikes are allowed on Mackinac Island . There are no electric bikes for rent and you are not permitted to bring over an electric bike to the Island . There are exceptions however , if the rider has a qualifying “ mobility disability ”, you are allowed to operate a Class-1 electric bicycle on the Island . Mobility disability means “ a physical impairment that substantially limits the ability of an individual to pedal a bicycle ,” such as a person with a specific health conditions or can ’ t walk without the aid of an assistive walking device .
REMEMBER : ALWAYS Stay to the right side of the road or trail , use a light at night , and as a reminder horses , carriages and pedestrians always have the right-of-way over bikes .
