BIKE RIDES

Eight Mile Shoreline Road

Commuting on a bicycle is the best way to get around Mackinac Island , because there are NO CARS ! Bring your own bikes from home or rent them on the Island . Then , pack a picnic and ride the gorgeous eight mile shoreline perimeter route along M-185 . It ’ s the easiest , most popular ride and a good way to aquaint yourself with the Island ’ s beauty .

The 8 mile ride around the Island is mostly flat , very scenic , and takes about an hour without stopping . But what ’ s the rush ? You ’ ll want to go slow , stop for lunch , take photos , climb to Arch Rock and enjoy the beauty , so allow at least 2 hours .
