If the last two years have taught us anything , it is that resilience , collaboration and community are everything – and rise to the occasion in a crisis . Our recovery from the pandemic will of course coincide with other crises , especially from climate-change influences , but it is how we listen , respond and innovate that will drive recovery and new growth . The shopper experience will be fuelled by insights as we make the most of new freedoms and ways of living and embrace sustainability and our health along with hyperpersonalisation and hyper-localisation .

The roaring twenties will see the blend of the retail experience adapt to meet the changing face of Australia . Those businesses that roar to the forefront are those that lean into collaboration – with suppliers , manufacturers , industry , community and the individual shopper . Those that put data and insight at the heart of their business are the ones that will hear the voice of Australians as they navigate a bold new world and continue to recalibrate their ways of living and working .
Constructive disruption must be conducted in harmony and unity . In the FMCG world , retailers and suppliers must come together to drive the industry to new levels by creating experiences that excite and engage Australians . Connecting with shoppers as individuals and at scale in the moment is the key , as is the ability to buy from anywhere and everywhere in their hybrid digital physical world . •
