Montessori:

This style is very student-centered: children can learn at their own pace and typically learn in general age groups, which helps create

a sense of community, allowing younger peers to learn from older peers.

Traditional education has become a monolith in public education. Grades are one of the only motivators of education rather than the desire to learn or even the interest of the student. Kids are placed into large classes and can easily drown without attention, which teachers don’t have the time or the capacity to provide. Traditional education is antiquated, and it has been for some time.

What is the answer to antiquation? Some schools know; charter schools are schools that exist in public school districts and occasionally in other schools.

The first charter act was passed in 1991 in the state of Minnesota, which allowed educators to alter their curriculum to better meet the needs of the student, all while being supported by the public education system.

schools and private schools are better structured to include the student.

Charter schools and

other alternative teaching

schools follow some different ideals; many charter schools base their curriculum and teaching style off four main ideas; Behaviorist learning, Constructivist learning, Cognitivist learning, and Progressive learning.. From these ideas schools further evolve to better fit their own needs as well as the needs of the student (demonstrated below).

While charter schools are an efficent way to

build a student-

centered community,

there are ways for

tradtitonal teachers

to integrate alternative teaching into their classrooms.
