Living a life I don't have
I have been collecting things for years since I was a little girl. The last 10 years I have been mindfully collecting for an Inn which I still don't own. So I decided it’s gotta go, the things I have been collecting so I decided I am having a yard sale. My beautiful antique cupboards are full of dishes, vases, tablecloths, bedding, kitchenware, mugs, tea cups and general STUFF that I really don't need or use. My girlfriend Lois came over last weekend and helped me purge. We aren't done and the sale is fast upon us. So we need another night and we should be good to go.
Seeing all those boxes piled up beside my front door and ready to carry out and set up is freeing, a little sad at the same time but freeing.
I was afraid I was becoming a hoarder, as I was forgetting what I had and I was buying more of the same. So when the purging began I felt it was like Christmas all over again because I kept saying " I didn't know I had that"!
The innkeeper in me will have a great sale as I will be serving coffee to my shoppers and will bake Chef Michael Smith’s chocolate chip brownies, my new favorite thing to bake!
I will be sad to see my treasures go but at the same time I know it is the right thing to do, regardless of my feelings my husband will be elated that all this stuff has vacated the house!
