Savor the Royal Treatment in beautiful Québec

Views of the St.-Lawrence River and the stunning rural countryside set the scene as you enjoy your stay in the exquisite Le Royal Champêtre B&B in Boischatel, QC. Facing Orleans Island in Côte-de-Beaupré, this elegant home is in a rural area near Québec City, between Montmorency Falls and Mont-Sainte-Anne.

The area’s rich agriculture provides a bountiful supply of local products. As an ambassador of the region, Brigitte Bélanger, Le Royal Champêtre’s Owner/Manager, introduces guests to an abundance of fresh produce and ingredients at her bed and breakfast, and supports the sustainable food movement. “I use freshly picked berries for jams or fruit salads, vegetables from local farms, and maple syrup from our neighbor,” says Brigitte. “I make it a priority to cook and present a variety of gastronomic treasures which abound in our beautiful region,” she says.

Brigitte has created a package with products from local producers in the Cote-de-Beaupré. “It is a lovely souvenir that includes ice wine, cherry syrup, jam, a honey candle, and maple caramel, for guests to take back home.”

You will start your day with a hearty home-cooked breakfast. Brigitte proudly makes everything from scratch, and accommodates special diets. “At Le Royal, the food is an adventure,” says Brigitte. “It is part of the experience of your stay.” Crepes, waffles, muffins, applesauce, homemade bread and jams are some of the healthy and delicious treats you will savor.

When asked about which dish her guests seem to like the most, she was hard-pressed to come up with just one. Her Four-Season Pie is one of her specialties passed down to her from her mother. It is a fruit pie with a plum pudding base, seasonal fruit, raisins, cinnamon and icing sugar. Her Egg Basket is another, and there are the Madeleines (French buttery sponge cakes), Goat Cheese and Zucchini Muffins, and her Lemon/Blueberry Cheesecake. I could go on, but my mouth is watering!

You will have to visit Le Royal Champêtre to experience her cooking for yourself. She is always coming up with new inspiration for different dishes. “I never serve the same thing to the same person, even when they return for multiple visits” says Brigitte. Don’t worry, she shares her recipes with guests who also share recipes with her. “They give me inspiration.”
