moved to central Florida and lived in a 1910 farmhouse that we renovated. It was located on 20 acres and I created

my first Bed and Breakfast on the same property. That was after I raised my children. I grew up in the city so I always appreciated the outdoors and the spaciousness of the land. We had acres of woods for the kids to play and little Paynes Creek ran through the land. There was pasture for the 28 farm animals and we witnessed baby goats and cows being born. One day I was reading a children’s book to my daughter and realized I had all the animals that were named in the book. She was only in kindergarten then.

When I recently visited the Palmer House in Lithia, Florida, it reminded me of the country days I experienced when my children were going up. Sometimes when you walk into a Bed and Breakfast you experience a feeling of, "I’m so glad I came."

I was fortunate to stay at the lovely Palmer House and received a warm welcome from the

owners, Gail and Bob Palmer. Every little detail of the Bed and Breakfast was well thought out. The color of the front door and the wreath that hung there was so inviting. I was charmed by all the décor and the spaciousness of the guest rooms. Palmer House sits on 8 acres of land housing a beautiful gazebo for the Weddings that take place there, along with the screened outdoor pool, the enticing hot tub and the beautiful oak trees that give you a feeling of peace. You can see cows grazing in the pasture and somehow the gentle mooing is peaceful. I breathed in the fragrance of the blooming orange blossoms and delighted at the lovely flowers blooming as I walked around the yard.

My room was inviting with a comfortable sitting area and had a refrigerator and coffee maker for convenience. The bathroom had both a jetted tub and walk-in shower. The bed was so comfortable I was sleeping like a baby, and the breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious.

Even though you feel you are in the country, civilization is just around the corner. Palmer House backs up to the amazing community of Fishhawk Trails off of Lithia Pinecrest Road and the nearby restaurants are plentifull.

Nearby is horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking and all the pleasures of the country. What a wonderful place to spend the dog days of summer.

Lithia is located in Hillsborough County near Tampa with lots of shopping nearby. Disney, Adventure Island and the beaches are all within an hours drive or less. Check out this lovely Inn for your next adventure.
