Inns Magazine Issue 1 Vol 20 Spring Romance 2016 | Page 26

2016 is now in full swing! Hopefully you’re filling up your rooms and sticking to your new year’s resolutions.

But of course, there are always more things you can do to refresh your small accommodation business. And this year should be about taking it to the next level.

Here are three steps you can take to refresh your inn’s performance in 2016.

1. Refresh your service

There are two parts to servicing guests - face to face, and online.

In person…

● Show off your personality! It’s the reason why properties like yours do so well in the first place.

● Always have the guest’s best interest at heart don’t upsell something just to push the bottom line. This attitude is what will encourage them to come back.

Online…

● Make sure that you touch base with guests before their stay. Beyond your automatic booking confirmation email, you should let them know how they can prepare, and get them excited to stay with you.

● Respond to reviews. Whether good or bad, you should be keeping an eye on what guests are saying about you, and responding appropriately.

2. Refresh your online presence

Your online presence is so important because that’s what travelers are using to research and book their accommodations.

Make sure you…

Mobile-optimize your site, because 65% of same-day hotel reservations are now being made via smartphone (source). Also, your search ranking is at risk of being dropped if your site is not mobile-friendly.
