This past fiscal year WSC placed more than 1,800 individuals into jobs and worked with over 100 local employers.

WSC delivers high-quality service in areas including assembly, inspection, sorting, kitting, packaging, warehousing and distribution. As they proudly state:“ We always supply what is needed, when it is needed and meet every production deadline, without exception.”
WSC has outstanding residential services that are designed to provide a new approach to residential rehabilitation for individuals recovering from brain or spinal cord injuries. They provide a structured living arrangement that emphasizes functional gains and provides clear, objective outcome measures. This is combined with vocational services in the belief that finding meaningful productive activities is vital to helping each person served to reach their greatest potential.
This program is overseen by a Master’ s level behavioral psychologist. The program is designed to identify and address behavioral challenges that create barriers to independence. The range of behavioral concerns that are addressed range from verbal or physical aggression, substance abuse, impulsivity and non-cooperation.
WSC ensures that each person within their residential program has an individually tailored program designed to fit their needs. This includes nursing support, and group cognitive restructuring. They are uniquely positioned to assist clients in returning to their greatest level of independence. Their extensive history of community partnerships allows for wider support and integration for their clientele.
Another vital area beneath the WSC umbrella is Action Home Health Care services( AHHC). This branch serves individuals facing illness, recovery, or diminished ability to care for themselves. They offer one-to-24-hour in-home customer care, 365 days a year. AHHC delivers exceptional customer care, with multiple long-term contracts based on customer specific quality level of care. They provide non-medical supportive services in the homes of customers; all staff is thoroughly screened and has extensive experience and education.
The most whimsical division is Studio West, the home of Art with a Heart. This magical place provides a large venue of classes and workshops offered to people with disabilities, and students and allies of WSC, allowing the opportunity to express their artistic abilities by creating artwork in a multitude of media, while taking pride in displaying and selling their work for income. There is something for everyone, regardless of experience or skill level including painting, mosaic, batik and origami.
Since WSC’ s grass roots started over 40 years ago, this ever expanding nonprofit organization has provided service to over tens of thousands of individuals, delivering services to more than 2,380 last year alone. As new needs arise, it will be exciting to see how Work Skills will meet these challenges.
