The world is facing a crisis these days the likes of which no one has
encountered before. Even though there have been pandemics before,
some of them more contagious and more lethal than the current one,
the sheer scale and speed of the global spread of COVID-19, the disease
cause by the novel Coronavirus, is novel terrain for humanity in a
globalized economy and a hyper-connected planet.
