Rollercoaster called High School

by Aliya Kadir

High school.. its crazy when you think about it.

You think about the drama and how you’ll get through it when all you see on tv is every girls dream of being on the cover of the Victoria Secrets magazine. And by the age of fifteen, they’re already shoving their fingers down their throat, trying to into that size zero skinny jeans. But by the age of eighteen... it’ll already be a routine. But me, i’m not like them girls on t.v. You see, momma didn’t raise no fool, I was raised with respect I got A’s in school. But moving on as an 8th grader it seemed so hard. You’re a tiny little human in a school so large. You see, those were my thoughts when I received my letter. My heart was pounding fast behind my sweater. As a kid I knew I had many flaws, I was very insecure about how i’m not that tall. I used to stress about the way I looked. Wanted to fit in with the girls in books. But now? shoot I can careless. Talk about the way I talk, the way I walk or the way I dress. I mean DAMN you’re obsessed! All I know is that i’m very blessed. I.. can’t careless.

Now let me tell you about the people who inspire me. The people who help me see through my eyes clearly. Shout out to my mom and dad for giving me all I have. Even though I take it for granted, just know deep down I really appreciate it. You help me up when I’m feeling down. You taught me how to wipe away my frown. Yea I know how it sounds, like I barely come around. But its your love that surrounds, let me say it out loud okay. Now give it up to my real friends. The ones that promise to be here til’ the end. And it’s the fact that I never brag. I got everything I need, I mean who needs swag? But high school has it’s ups and downs. Makes you feel like no ones around. But when you find the right people, you’re life will change, not only your life but also your grades. Go ahead shine bright, put them haters to shame.

But in high school, haters aren’t your only weakness. Many of your trails can have you left speechless. Facing all your enemies, you know you’ll fall hard. But don’t give up, cause you know you’ll go far. Often times even math class can bring me down. But take a look at the strategies I’ve found. Asking many questions can help you go far, staying after school can help you through it all.

Now i’m looking back on the chances I took. And every little thing that I’ve overlooked. Yea now i’m moving on and my future’s looking clear. But I couldn’t do it without the people who helped me get here. No matter how far I go, in my heart they’ll be near. As I go strong, I shed no more tears. Cause through all of my trials, I lost all my fear.
