in the listing.”
“A lot of people work downtown. There’s
the HPU students and lots of residents. We’re
telling them that this is a good night to go
out,” says Hancock. “Patrons will know that
[Wednesdays are] a safe, healthy night. There’s
minimal commitment, no cover charges, good
drink deals, so it won’t hit their wallet hard.”
“Business and awareness is our goal,” says
Lee. “Kaka‘ako is not going away, so we have
to be on top of our game; stay fresh.”

the weekends. Walkabout
Wednesdays could change

for $3 Sierra Nevada Pale Ales
and there Western Burger.
03 Between Nuuanu Avenue
to Bethel Street, Hotel Street
boasts a dense concentration
of weekend fun, a vibe the
owners of the Hotel Street 5
hope to extend throughout
the week.
05 The quirky feel of Downbeat Diner is accented by
the patterned booths, which
feature stencils of famous
entertainers like Bruddah Iz
and Jimi Hendrix.
