eleven44 comes out!

F

rom Red Elephant, a recording
studio and café, to bambuTwo
and The Venue, to eleven44: the
space next to Marks Garage on Bethel
Street has seen several transformations
over the past few years. This most recent incarnation is, according to Miki
Lee, the operations manager for eleven44 (also for Bar 35 and Brasserie du
Vin) “a transformation from a funky,
casual space to something a bit more
sleek and sophisticated.”
The new venue, which in Chinatown tradition has named itself after
its own address (smart marketing if
you ask us—where’s that place located
again? Oh yeah!), features red carpet
treatment, VIP bottle service, upgraded drinks (Ketel One Vodka, Maker’s
Mark Whiskey, Sauza Hornitos Tequila
and Tanqueray Gin), Valet Parking and
a moderate dress code of collared shirts
and nice pants for the gentlemen and
no denim skirts for the ladies.

behind a new $6 tapas menu which
includes crab cakes, beef skewers, veggie samosas and lamb or BBQ chicken
lavash. On Happy Hour (Wed.-Sat.,
5-7pm) premium wells are $5 and the
tapas are $4.
But there’s more to this revamp as
well. “In addition to the new sights, you
must hear our new sound system,” said
Lee. ”It’s the only system of it’s kind in
the state of Hawai‘i!”
The audio team that eleven44
brought in to redo the state-of-the-art
soundsystem includes Kevin Sanada of
SPELLS HI, Chris Chartier of Asylum
and Ramyt of Foundation. These guys
know what they’re doing when it comes
to acoustics and setting up a great
sounding party-space.
