Blink 182’s Enema of the State Turns Fifteen

As of June 1, Blink 182’s famous "Enema of the State" released in 1999 turned fifteen years old. "Enema of the State" was Blink’s third studio album, following "Cheshire Cat" and "Dude Ranch." This was their first album with new drummer, Travis Barker, after firing their previous drummer, Scott Raynor on tour.

"Enema of the State" was produced by Jerry Finn, who had previously worked on Green Day’s groundbreaking record, "Dookie." Finn had done a great job in ensuring the band created fast-paced, pop punk songs. The songs on this record had a wide range of topics. From songs about suicide, about parties, and even about aliens, a first time listener would have no idea what they were in for.

This record had much more success than their previous two albums, with three music videos, and places on list such as “Greatest Album Covers of All Time,” “100 Greatest Guitar Albums,” and, “500 CDs You Must Own Before You Die.” The songs “Adam’s Song,” “What’s My Age Again?,” and “All The Small Things,” were very popular and gained a lot of radio time.

"Enema of the State" was a huge influence on many pop punk bands to come in the 2000s and was well deserving of recieving the various rewards and recognition it had. This is just one more 90s album's anniversery that makes you feel old.
