Doing Life Together
What God Intends For Us
“Remember that when God created us, we were not created to do life alone,” said Pastor
David in a recent sermon.* “Life change happens best when
we are in a small group ... encouraged, supported,
prayed for by a small group.”
The model of learning about God and building
relationships with one another through small groups
is Biblically based. It’s the way Jesus taught his
disciples. They grew in their understanding and
awareness of God’s will as Jesus taught them while
they ate together, prayed together, worshipped
together, and served others together.
Scripture tells us about the formation of the early
church and the dual emphasis on learning and
community.
“They devoted themselves to the Apostles’
teaching and to the fellowship.” Acts 2:42
The importance of becoming life-long learners ...
gathering, staying close to one another, supporting and
encouraging each other ... was critically important for them to
be the people God created them to be. And the same is true for us.
