THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF MATADEROS
It´s in the west part of the city of Buenos Aires. It´s famous for
the Mataderos Street Market. It´s also famous for the different
slaughterhouses in the area. The first slaughterhouse was
opened in 1889. At present you can find several cold-
storage chambers. Mataderos was first known as “the new
Chicago” because of the American city in the U.S. It also has a
famous football club called “Club Atlético Nueva Chicago” It
was founded in 1911 by a group of young people who
also chose the colours green and black to represent the new
institution. Its original name was Football Club Los Unidos de
Nueva Chicago.
