GERMANY
BA from Scholven power plant was used as raw material for
construction and is commercially named as “Grobalith”. BA is
applied in the manufacturing of tiles and mineral wool. Some
portions of BA are used for bound and unbound applications such
as road construction, substrate and earthworks.

UNITED KINGDOM
100% of its BA is utilised for commercial use. Many companies
process and grade the BA in line with lightweight aggregate for
concrete (EN 13055-1) on-site and also use it in their lightweight
concrete block manufacturing off-site. There is a national standard
for the application of BA. Generally, these blocks are used for
basement walls of houses.

Declaration of Performance confirms that BA has fulfilled all
quality requirements of the NEN-EN 13055. Used as lightweight
aggregates for concrete, mortar and grout as none of the
substances harm the environment.

Products from BA have shown better performance in many cases.
BA was used in the production of concrete, gypsum wallboard,
blasting grit, roofing granules, and a variety of geotechnical and
agricultural applications.

JAPAN
BA is used for road construction, foundation improvements, backfilling
or use in earthworks and as an artificial light-weight aggregate.
BA is also used as a fertiliser or soil conditioner in the agriculture
sector. BA is used as a replacement for clay-alternative raw material
for ceramic products such as clay roofing, bricks, and tiles, or as
a cement mixture for boards (interior/exterior wall material for
construction).
