Adequate security should be provided
to protect workers and their belongings,
e.g. perimeter fencing and patrols when
unoccupied.
Lockable storage facilities should be
provided to secure personal belongings as
shown in Figure 4.
Recreation/ living areas should be provided,
e.g. TV and sports equipment.
Facilities should be ventilated naturally
or mechanically to a reasonable level of
comfort.
There should be maximum six workers with
a total area of 3m2 per worker, reviewed
in compliance with the Malaysian Standard
MS 2593:2015.
The bedding that is provided should be
clean and appropriate.
Where beds are provided, they should
be spaced apart, raised off the floor and
with safe access provided. Other forms
of bedding, such as roll out mattresses,
are acceptable where industry norms
dictate; however, other forms should only
be implemented if they meet the basic
principles.
Linen, if provided, should be cleaned on a
regular basis.
Triple-deck bunks should not be utilised
due to the risk of falls.
