The Internet of Things ( IoT ) is a new paradigm that has transformed traditional ways of life into high-tech lifestyles by enabling the connection of electronic devices and sensors via the Internet to improve our lives [ 1 ]. In 1999 , Kevin Ashton , co-founder of the Auto-ID Laboratory in the United Kingdom , created the term " Internet of Things " to describe a system in which the Internet is linked to the real world by ubiquitous sensors such as Radio frequency identification ( RFID ) [ 2 ].

IoT has emerged as one of the most important technologies of the 21 st century in recent years . Things such as vehicles , appliances , traffic control management , and so on , may now be connected via sensors , software , and embedded devices , allowing for seamless communication between people , processes , and things . Such data acquired for sharing requires minimal human intervention .
With the increasing adoption of IoT devices and technology , we can expect to see a significant shift in our everyday routines . IoT converts physical items into an information ecosystem , where we may connect our lives to technology and achieve higher levels of freedom .
TECHNOLOGIES THAT HAVE MADE IoT POSSIBLE
While the concept of IoT has been around for a long time , the latest innovations in a plethora of different technologies have made it realistic [ 3 ]:
Access to low-cost , low-power sensor technology More manufacturers are able to implement IoT technology due to the availability of low-cost , dependable sensors .
Connectivity A variety of Internet network protocols have simplified the connection of sensors to the Cloud and other “ things ” for efficient data transfer .
Cloud computing platforms The increased availability of Cloud platforms allows both enterprises and consumers to gain access to the infrastructure they require to scale up without having to manage it all .
Machine learning and analytics With advancements in machine learning and analytics , as well as access to diverse and vast volumes of data stored on the Cloud , businesses can gain insights more quickly and easily . The expansion of these linked technologies continues to push the boundaries of IoT , and the data produced by IoT feeds these technologies as well .
Conversational artificial intelligence ( AI ) Natural-language processing ( NLP ) has been brought to IoT devices thanks to advances in neural networks , making them appealing , inexpensive , and feasible for home use .
As IoT becomes more prevalent in the marketplace , businesses are capitalising on the
