The Maran-Jerantut Bridge or Jambatan Sultan Abdullah was built over Sungai Pahang in 1977 and completed in 1978 near a village called Kampung Feri Jerantut . This village was so named as this was the location where the ferry service was provided for movement of vehicles from central Pahang to Maran enroute to Kuantan . The bridge eased the movement of traffic , especially heavy vehicles such as timber lorries , that transport logs from interior Pahang regions to sawmills in Kuantan .
The name of Kampung Feri was commonly used for villages situated near the ferry service , such as Kg Feri , Kuala Rompin , Pahang and Kg Feri Kemasik , Terengganu . Villagers serve food and beverages to drivers and passengers waiting to cross the river whenever there is a queue at the ferry points .
