The Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge is the main bridge
in Kota Bharu, Kelantan over the Kelantan River
linking Kota Bharu in the east bank and Wakaf
Bharu on the west. The bridge was designed by the
Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya).
The construction of the bridge commenced
in 1965 and was completed in 1967. It was
constructed by Kian Huat Private Limited, a
Malaysian construction company.

The bridge was officially opened on April 17,
1965 by the late Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Yahya
Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim. It was originally
a toll bridge – the first toll bridge in Malaysia.
Later, a second Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge was
constructed in 2009 and completed in 2012 to
ease the increasing traffic load.
