Ancient Construction Marvel of Wutaishan and Hanging Temple of Hengshan, China By Chin Siew Yin One of the temple buildings at Wutaishan A ny trip to Wutaishan would be incomplete without visiting the famed Hanging Temple of Hengshan which is not far away and shares the same geological setting of the Trans- North China Belt (TNCB), consisting of several lithological, metamorphic and structural units. Geologists are still arguing about the relationship between the Hengshan, Wutaishan and Fuping lithotectonic complexes, the structural, magmatic and metamorphic histories of these complexes and the timing of the orogenic event that resulted in the closure of ocean between the Western and Eastern blocks that divided the Archean North China craton. 77
