Strategies to be adopted
1. Extensive awareness campaigns
(Agencies responsible: SEDA, GreenTech
Malaysia, ST, FMM, Industry associations)
a. To conduct general awareness campaigns
on EE (energ y ef ficiency) and RE
(renewable energy) throughout Malaysia
for all categories of consumers – students
(schools and higher institutions of
learning), housewives, general public and
Government officials.
b. GreenTech Malaysia to conduct awareness
campaigns in co-ordination with FMM
and industry associations to industry
and commercial building owners/tenants
throughout Malaysia focusing on EE
opportunities and technologies.
2. Free energy audits to identify energy
efficiency opportunities
(Agencies responsible: GreenTech Malaysia,
SEDA, SME Corp)
c. SEDA to conduct free energy audits for the
commercial sector and industry to identify
energy efficiency opportunities. Detailed/
Investment Grade audits to be conducted
by industry with/without help from Energy
Service Companies (ESCOs). Government
to maintain energy audit team at SEDA for
this purpose.
3. Benchmarking
(Agencies responsible: GreenTech Malaysia,
NPC, SME Corp, FMM, MIDA)
a. GreenTech Malaysia in collaboration
with NPC to activate an e-benchmarking
programme.
b. FMM to co-operate with SME Corp to
encourage companies to participate in
e-benchmarking programmes.
c. GreenTech Malaysia to liaise with MIDA,
Department of Statistics to obtain data for
benchmarking through their survey forms.
