POLICY STATEMENT: AVENUE FOR APPEAL AND PARTIAL/TOTAL WAIVER FOR
CPD
BQ1. How can a Registered Person (PE/PEPC/IOW) above 60 years of age who has retired and/or
is not fully employed, satisfy this requirement while still retaining their registration as PE,
PEPC and IOW?
BA1. Registered Persons aged 60 and above who are still practising as PEPC will have to satisfy
the full BEM CPD requirement based on a three-year rolling average of 50 CPD Hours per year.
Registered Persons aged 60 and above who are not practising can choose to change their
registration to PE in order to satisfy BEM CPD requirements based on a three-year rolling average
of 25 CPD Hours per year.
BQ2. Can a Registered Person (PE/PEPC/IOW) who becomes unemployed due to economic
downturn apply for exemption?
BA2. A Registered Person who falls into this category can ask for partial exemption. Registered Persons
are reminded that self-learning and further studies are considered CPD activities. Time spent on
service activities like serving on IEM, ACEM or BEM Committees also counts toward CPD.
