CONCLUSION
As the nation approaches the target date of a
developed nation status by 2020, the big building
stock that has been accumulated should be
maintained in a safe and stable condition. While
the Street, Drainage and Building Act provides
for local authority to issue a notice to owners of
buildings of more than five storeys to inspect their
buildings every five years, it should be the onus of
these owners to inspect the buildings irrespective
of such notices.
