Resources compendium Energy Management Expert Training Programme Objective The objective of the EnMS Expert training programme is to create a cadre of national experts equipped with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to support adoption and implementation in industry of energy management systems aligned with and in conformance with MS ISO 50001 by providing technical assistance to enterprises and coaching facility personnel on energy management systems (EnMS) development and implementation Trained national experts will have to be able to: a. Promote and sell EnMS and MS ISO 50001 to industry management b. Work with enterprise to establish and implement EnMS that functions, i.e. deliver energy performance improvements c. Work with enterprise to establish and implement EnMS that fully conform with MS ISO 50001 d. Conduct two-day User training for enterprise energy managers/personnel on how to develop and implement an EnMS aligned with MS ISO 50001 6 40 VOL – SEPTEMBER 2015 VOL63 55JULY JUNE 2013 Learning goals At the end of the Expert Training programme, national trainee/experts will have gained the following knowledge, expertise and skills: i. Immediate and strategic benefits of EnMS/ MS ISO 50001 implementation ii. National legislation and regulation relevant to the adoption and/or implementation of EnMS/ MS ISO 50001 iii. Financing options available for EE projects and EnMS/MS ISO 50001 implementation iv. Working understanding of all elements of an energy management system in conformance with MS ISO 50001 a. Planning b. Implementation and Operation c. Checking Performance d. Management Review v. Working under s t anding of re source requirements and costs involved in the implementation of EnMS/ MS ISO 50001 in industry vi. Ability to apply an energy management system in an industrial facility vii. Experience in the practical implementation of an energy management system, including use of supporting tools viii. Ability to and experience in reviewing an energy management system, verifying and reporting on its energy performance ix. Ability to and experience in effectively deliver workshops and training on energy management system and MS ISO 50001 Target groups National trainees for the Expert Training programme will be selected on the basis of the following criteria: a. B achelor deg re e in eng ine ering , management or other technical field b. At least three years of experience working with or in industry c. Facilitation and project management experience d.
