Knowledge fusion will support high-level co-ordination between humans and computers
of AI in project and facility management requires data integrity and accountability .
The application of Building Information Modelling ( BIM ) in project and facility management enables organisations to effectively harness the full potential of AI to streamline operations and achieve optimal outcomes . AI can seamlessly integrate all design information , construction details , and building assets created within the BIM model . The organisational structure of the information stored in the BIM model can help the users to manage , share and exchange information between AI media . Knowledge fusion will support high-level coordination between humans and computers based on the increasing understanding of the type of knowledge involved in experiences from engineering and construction projects , as well as providing a conducive environment for the transmission of information and knowledge .
Future construction will be heavily influenced by AI , which is expected to play a significant role in four major areas of construction as follows :
• Integrated design and construction planning system that combines the capability of modelling in BIM and locationbased management and scheduling techniques . The innovative informationladen approach will drastically heighten the level of understanding and address any misconceptions pertaining to various aspects of buildability among designers and project team members . Ultimately , this will result in more favourable and feasible designs , efficient construction-related activities , and better value-for-money outcomes .
• Product automation system represents an ecosystem where the majority of products associated with the industry have acquired certain levels of AI ( data is transmitted between products without any human intervention ) and can perform at least part of their functions automatically and unsupervised .
• Site automation system is an approach of setting up controlled , factory-like environments on the construction site , in the form of automated / robotic onsite factories which help to improve organisation , integration and material flow on the construction site .
