formulate his BoD . Meanwhile , an independent Commissioning Specialist ( CxS ), engaged directly by the Owner , should ideally be on board to review the BoD against the OPR so that future installation , functional , operational and maintainability issues will be fully realised .
It is heartening to note that to continuously improve the knowledge and quality of designs , numerous local , learned and professional organisations such as ACEM , IEM , IFEM , MASHRAE , MGBC and PAM have been providing relevant design training courses , with some speakers even willing to “ share their trade secrets ”!
Towards this goal , various trade organisations have strived to work closely with the Construction Industry Development Board ( CIDB ). However , to drive and enhance their performance , the trade contractors also need to understand the designer ’ s BoD and , at all times , ensure that their installations will be functional , operable and maintainable , with constant review and inputs from the CxS . The trade organisations involved are Malaysia Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Association ( MACRA ), The Electrical & Electronics Association of Malaysia ( TEEAM ), Malaysia Fire Protection Association ( MFPA ), Malaysia Lift & Escalator Association ( MALEA ), Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Plumbing Association ( SKLPA ) and Building Automation System Association of Malaysia ( BASAM ). These are now collectively represented under the umbrella of the Malaysian Consortium of M & E Associations ( MCMEA ).
The Installers
There are significant examples of installers capable of delivering world-class quality installations , provided proper information , framework and training of skill sets are in place .
