Case Study 2 : Rumah Maimunah Yaakub , Rembau , Negeri Sembilan
The Rumah Maimunah Yaakub was built in the 1920s by a benefactor . The previous owner was as a Muslim scholar . From 1721 to 1826 , the kampung was the site of the coronation of Raja Rembau ( Raja Melewar ), local rulers originally from Pagarruyung , Sumatera Barat . The house was built from the highest-quality
local timber called Chengal and was one of the most lavish houses in the kampung . The special characteristic of the house can be seen through dragon head features at the end of roof ridge and 20 intricate decorative timber panelling separating the Rumah Ibu and Serambi areas ( ten panels on the right , ten panels on the left ) with different patterns and designs . The chronological events related to the house are shown in Figure 5 .

Events 1920s House built . 2000s Owner passed away and house abandoned . 2010 Rented by Indonesian workers . 2013 Bought by the founder of Yayasan AsSofa .
2014 The house was dismantled and left with the Rumah Dapur ( kitchen ) sitting on the ground .
2015 The house was reassembled at a new site at the Islamic High School ( Yayasan AsSofa ).
