What is Heritage
Heritage is “ Something which is passed down from one generation to another ” ( Richard Prentice , 1994 )
“ Heritage is cultural property that includes both visible and non-visible cultural heritage ” ( Unesco , 1972 )
“ Heritage is natural features , geological and physiographical formations and delineated areas that constitute the habitat of threatened species of animals and plants and natural sites of value from the point of view of science , conservation or natural beauty ” ( Unesco , 1972 )
Cultural heritage includes tangible or intangible form of cultural property , structure , monuments , or artefacts and may include a heritage matter , object , item , artefact , formation structure , performance , dance , song , music that is pertinent to the historical or contemporary way of life of Malaysians , on or in land or underwater cultural heritage of tangible form excluding natural heritage . ( National Heritage Act 2005 and Regulations )
Heritage Item refers to any National Heritage , heritage site , building object or underwater cultural heritage listed in the register . ( National Heritage Act 2005 and Regulations )
