PTP Port Management Team PTP employs a total workforce of about 4,000 people overseeing asset management , port operation , port safety and security , human resource , finance , marketing and maintenance . The role of maintenance is well reflected in PTP ’ s organisation , where there is a 500-strong dedicated engineering maintenance and repair management team with an annual budget of about RM150 million .
Like many other major ports , PTP utilises a high level of technology in its operations . PTP is currently undertaking a feasibility study to implement autonomous driving of its on-dock trucks . Some of the main digitalisation initiatives are shown in Table 3 .
In addition , PTP employs a system to track individual worker ’ s productivity that also provides better visibility on work performance . PTP ’ s digital initiatives is best described by its Chief Executive Officer , Marco Neelsen , who said , 17 " Given the pace at which technological advancements are changing the world , it is imperative for PTP to remain competitive and attractive . By investing in the latest technology , we are establishing our terminal as one of the best equipped and most technologically advanced terminal port in the region ".
Performance PTP monitors its performance diligently using a number of key indicators . The main focus is on marine , terminal and main gate operations . In terms of terminal operation efficiency PTP ranks among the most efficient ports in the world 18 . Performance indicators are also used by the
