In the world of dietetics , the journey to success can take many forms , often winding and unexpected . Tanya Gilliver , Chief Operating Officer at Dietitian Connection , shares her adventurous career story .
For many dietitians , their love for food serves as the launching pad for their careers . For South African-born , Tanya , this was no exception … however her extroverted nature steered her away from the kitchen towards a broader healthcare context : dietetics . Her journey commenced with a hospital volunteer role in South Africa , and despite initially working for free to gain experience , Tanya ’ s dedication paid off . She moved to larger hospitals in the UK and Australia , focusing on complex clinical cases primarily in gastroenterology , GI surgery and intensive care . However , it was being diagnosed with coeliac disease that reignited her passion for food and prompted her to venture into private practice .
