Klabin invests to expand production of corrugated cardboard packaging in Ceará

Klabin announced an investment of R $ 188 million to expand its corrugated cardboard packaging production unit in Horizonte , Ceará . The investment will make it possible to expand production in the Northeast and meet the growing fruit growing market in the region , in addition to the vegetable and vegetable segments and the industrial sector .
The movement includes the acquisition of a corrugator and a printer , in addition to the transfer of two printers from the Goiana ( PE ) Unit . The start-up of the project is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2023 and the Unit will produce 100 thousand tons of corrugated cardboard packaging per year . In addition to the increase in production , the new , state-of-the-art equipment will ensure high productivity and very high quality printing .

Klabin started to offer discounts on items and paper packaging to restaurants registered with iFood through the Chef ' s Advantages benefits program . The action benefits the production and consumption chain involved by bringing more sustainability to the products delivered , especially to small and medium-sized establishments .
The “ Chef Advantage ” program offers exclusive discounts and benefits , negotiated by iFood , which contribute to the management and growth of partner restaurants . In practice , establishments can save on services such as gas , energy , internet , marketing , among others , through the initiative , which is completely free and available throughout Brazil .
Douglas Dalmasi explains that packaging is essential for the growth and quality of delivery services , ensuring the safety and integrity of the food transported , as well as preserving the characteristics to provide the best experience to the consumer . “ The delivery segment has grown over the last two years and we are delighted to announce this partnership with iFood , through which it will be possible to offer more sustainable and affordable packaging solutions to restaurants across the country .”
Following the “ Chef ' s Advantage ” business model , transactions will take place in the digital environment , through the Klabin ForYou online store , which will be accessed via the Partner Portal , iFood ' s exclusive platform . Restaurants will have discount coupons to take advantage of the Company ' s entire product base , which offers renewable and recyclable paper packaging solutions from planted and certified forests .

The contribution will guarantee an increase of 80 thousand tons per year in production
Replace fuel oil with a 100 % clean and renewable energy source : biomass gasification . This is the recent sustainability measure adopted by Klabin with the Puma II Project , to expand the industrial unit in Ortigueira ( PR ). The company will stop consuming 21,500 tons of BPF oil per year , a fuel that is derived from petroleum to supply one of its lime kilns . The energy matrix will have an increase in the share of renewable fuels , exceeding 90 % and a reduction of 67 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent per year in greenhouse gas ( GHG ) emissions in the company ' s operations .
The company is increasingly aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda through the Klabin Goals for Sustainable Development . Among the commitments made is the reduction of the share of fossil fuels to ensure an energy matrix of at least 92 % renewable by 2030 . In addition , there is a goal approved by science that provides for the reduction of specific emissions of Greenhouse Gases ( scope 1 and 2 ) by 25 % per ton of pulp , paperboard and packaging by 2025 , and by 49 % by 2035 , as of base year 2019 .
