REGIONAL PROFILES

Conveniently located 25 minutes south-east of Ottawa, Russell Township serves a vibrant, caring, bilingual and growing population of approximately 16,000 individuals that includes( primarily) young families, educated professionals, spirited entrepreneurs and talented tradespeople in an expansive rural setting.
Embrun
Historically a French-speaking community, Embrun is the largest of the 4 villages that make up Russell Township. Its popularity has grown significantly in the last 20 years due to its relative proximity to Ottawa and its bilingual community.
Limoges
Shared with the Nation Municipality, Limoges can be found just off of the 417, 30 minutes south-east of Ottawa. While it’ s recently become a very popular seasonal spot with Calypso Waterpark, it maintains small village charm.
Marionville
Named after the Marion family who still live in the area, this little village is shared with the City of Ottawa, the Township of North Dundas and the Township of Russell, and is located approximately 37 kms southeast of Ottawa northwest of the Castor River.
Russell
The oldest of the settled villages, the village of Russell was named after Lieutenant Peter Russell in the 1800s and was once a bustling stop for the New York Central Railway. Many of you still enjoy the NY trails today for cycling, running and walking. A once agricultural-dominated village, most residents now make their daily commute to Ottawa for work.
