Autumn: A Time of Sacred Seclusion by Sage Woman
Fall is a season for balancing light and dark, letting go and accepting the impermanence of things. The autumn equinox marks the arrival of the autumn season, traditionally seen as a period of change leading to the dark of winter. As we watch the leaves drifting to the ground, we are reminded that nature’ s cycles are mirrored in our lives. Autumn is a time for letting go and releasing things that have been a burden. Fall is the perfect time to practice getting out of the way and letting Spirit take charge of our lives. Let go, Let God / Goddess.
Letting go can be diffi cult to do initially. It doesn’ t really matter if the thing we are trying to let go of isn’ t even something we want or need anymore: it’ s ours, we’ ve grown accustomed to it, and we may have a hard time taking that last step to release it. Letting go of people can be even harder.

Sometimes the world gives us no choice, and we have to let go of something or someone. Many times we make a conscious decision that simply means it is time to stop holding on. Even when it is our choice, though, it can still be tough.
On the autumn equinox, day and night are of equal length. This signals the need to balance the light and dark within us. It is the perfect time to embrace the gifts of going within the depth of the darkness to reveal what is ready to come to the light.
One of the ways I celebrate this time of the year is to create a mini-retreat for myself. During this retreat, I do the things that assist me in celebrating both endings and beginnings, releasing and letting. I pick one day that is only mine and mine alone, no social media, business, contact with friends, television or
