WHY YOU SHOULD BE SELLING SPECIAL EVENT POLICIES
WHY YOU SHOULD BE SELLING SPECIAL
EVENTS POLICIES
Tailoring to Your Customers
IT’S that time of year again. Weddings,
graduation open houses, family reunions,
outdoor concerts and carnivals abound.
These parties are a lot of fun, but can be
a big risk. How are you taking care of your
customers? Are you adding the limited
coverage available through a homeowner’s
policy or are you providing your customers
with a policy that is custom made for these
situations?
Fortunately, it is easy to do better for
your customers. You can get them a much
better policy, for not much more work
or money (policies start at $250). Most
special events policies can be quoted in 5
minutes or less, over the phone or on-line.
There are only a few additional pieces
of information needed in order to bind
a policy. There are policies available for
single events or multiple events. You can
your customer ties them to you a little
closer. They begin to depend on you, which
is great for your bottom line.
An easy way to market these policies
and gather new customers is by getting
to know the owners of local conference
centers or other venues. When their
customers ask where to get the required
insurance, they can hand them your card.
This will give you the opportunity to write
“BY PROVIDING YOUR CUSTOMERS WITH A POLICY THAT IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY
FOR SPECIAL EVENTS, YOU CAN PROTECT YOUR CUSTOMER’S HOMEOWNER’S
POLICY, KEEP THEM FROM SHOPPING ELSEWHERE AND SHOW THEM THAT YOU
ARE LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR BEST INTEREST, NOT JUST THE QUICK SOLUTION.”
Most special events coverage is obtained
by endorsement on a homeowner’s policy.
It’s pretty easy and pretty cheap. But, can
you name a venue as an additional insured?
Usually not. Can you provide liquor liability
to the policy? In most cases, no.
Adding special events coverage to a
homeowner’s policy puts that policy at risk.
Most families have one of those uncles
that tends to get a little overly ambitious
in their partying. Is it worth a homeowner’s
claim which could cost your customer their
entire policy?

cover events that have just a few people or
events that have 10,000 attendees. Liquor
liability is also available in most states and
for most types of events.
By providing your customers with a
policy that is designed specifically for
special events, you can protect your
customer’s homeowner’s policy, keep
them from shopping elsewhere and show
them that you are looking out for their
best interest, not just the quick solution.
Another benefit, as you probably know,
every additional policy you provide for
this policy and quote the other products
the customers need.
