Slavery

An editorial by: Nathaniel Slade

The enslavement of black men and women is a real issue in the South as well as the North. The abuse of Negros continues even though it is unconstitutional. In the constitution as well as the declaration of independence our founding fathers state “all men are created equal”. Black men surely are not treated as equals, but they are not “men” by U.S standards they are property like a dog or a shirt. Even though the industrial revolution has advanced America slave owners still live like savages.

Come the day when slavery is abolished the south will be left broken. Slave owners rely on their slaves so much, yet they still whip them and treat them like dirt. If I was a southern cotton farmer with slaves I would at last praise them for their work. There is no kindness in the way people treat slaves. Enslaved men and women are passed on in a persons will like a house or firearm. If a law was made that after the owner of a slave died the slaves should be released I would fully support it. Abolitionists are people who speak up against slavery, like me. They do the best they can to help gain slaves their release. “If a person is to be free in America then are the slaves not people” a random abolitionist says. Yes, slaves are people and whatever you slave owners think it is unfair to treat them like property. Is a black bear not a bear because it is black, is a polar bear any better than a black bear because it is white(well actually it’s fur is clear because when the light……..), no it is not better.

To sum this editorial up no race is better than the other and if one is different they should not be enslaved. Black or white we are all the same. Under that skin is a person, a person who has feelings. So next time you see a slave thank him for helping out America.
