The Rise of In-Home Pet Care
For many pet owners, leaving town can come with a lot of guilt and stress, especially for animals that thrive on routine. That’ s one reason in-home pet sitting has become increasingly popular across Manitoba.
We spoke with June of June’ s Pet Care Services about why more families are choosing personalized pet care at home.
Why are pet owners choosing in-home care?
“ Pets are often much more comfortable staying in their own environment,” says June.“ They get to keep their regular routine, sleep in familiar spaces, and avoid the stress that can sometimes come with boarding facilities.”
June provides overnight in-home pet sitting and checkin visits for clients across Selkirk, Gimli, Winnipeg, and surrounding communities. She also offers dog grooming services and works with pets that may need extra patience, consistency, or one-on-one attention.
What should pet owners look for in a pet sitter?
According to June, experience and communication matter most. Her background working in veterinary medicine helped her learn how to handle different personalities, routines, and special care needs.
She encourages pet owners to ask questions before booking and to look for someone who understands animal behaviour beyond basic care.“ Every pet is different. Some need lots of activity and others just want companionship and consistency.”
What’ s one trend you’ re noticing?
“ People are becoming much more intentional about pet care,” says June.“ They want personalized experiences that fit their pet’ s specific needs and routine.”
That shift has also expanded into specialty services, including wedding-day pet assistance, customized care schedules, and more flexible in-home support for busy families.- June’ s Pet Care, www. junespetcareservices. ca
