Can you tell us about your life and what motivates you to write poetry?

When I was little, I was never quite sure what I was good at. I had a lot of friends that were good at sports, gymnastics, and dancing. I tried all of those, but I always felt more comfortable reading or drawing. I had a rather great imagination (still do, actually), and I could get lost in my daydreams for hours. Little did I know when I was young just how handy that would be later on! I wrote my first short story back in 4th grade and I was so beside myself with the kind comments I got from teachers and kids and other parents that I just knew I had found something special, something I was good at!

It wasn’t until I was in highschool that I discovered my love for writing poetry. Mainly thanks to my discovery of Edgar Allan Poe - amazing talent! At first my poetry had just been a hobby - a way to express whatever it was that I was feeling at the time. I started sharing some of my poems with others later on and found that I enjoyed watching other people respond to what I wrote.

Then earlier this year, after deciding to start posting some of my poetry on my blog, I was asked when I was going to release a book. I was so unsure of myself that it took another 3 months before I decided: why not? So, with a lot of stress, some doubt, and a good laugh at my own silliness - my poetry book ‘Echoes’ was born.
