What is a typical day for you?

I typically help get my kids ready for school each morning and then eagerly dig into the impending literary task for the day, whether it’s writing, editing, promoting, presenting, etc. Evenings and weekends are mostly reserved for my family, including taking my kids to different practices or events.

Do you have a set plan for your novels; can it change as the story progresses?

My novels always have a high-level arc that sort of serves as a map for the story from the beginning. That target, however, may change if it means making the story more exciting and unpredictable. I generally develop 3-5 chapters at a time, with each chapter taking multiple passes to ensure it fits properly with the preceding and anticipated chapters while being as engaging as possible.
