To decide which of Andy's poems to include in this months issue was a hard task, I had a long list and it took me a while to whittle it down to just these four, which I chose because of the diversity of topics.
My own particular favourite's are 'Alphabet Soup' and 'Storm' which I found to be dramatic and powerful . After it had been chosen Andy gave me some background information on the piece which I re-read and then understood in a different way.
''Storm' is from my forthcoming novel 'Fate and Circumstance', a historical novel about the Ukrainian Lemkos in the Carpathian Mountains during World War Two. One of the characters, Kasper writes poetry, he and his brother, Lev, join the partisans.'
This is what I like about poetry, that it can be read and interpreted in different ways and other meanings attached to the verse/s
